About Christina Truelove

2015-06-001My story actually begins all the way back in 1988.  I received $40 for my birthday, the exact amount that I needed to purchase the item that my heart most desired – a Polaroid camera.  Proudly, my parents took me to Target, over to the electronics section, and sitting in a locked glass case was the object of my obsession for months.  I can’t even describe the amount of happy I felt as I left the store holding MY new camera and some cartridges of film that my parents graciously included.  It was one of the first happiest days of my life.

I took that camera everywhere and photographed everything I could, from the various travels around the country in which I was fortunate enough to take part, to the everyday happenings of my kittens.  Everything got documented.  Everything.

Not much has changed from those days, on the exception that my Polaroid (which we still have BTW) has been exchanged for professional equipment and my skills have obviously improved.  I still love to travel and capture the beauty that I see around me, from the obvious to the quirky and even the ordinary.  I love to capture the essence of whatever or whoever is in front of my camera and tell the story with my lens.

Top 10 quirky things you must know about me

  1. The color purple basically rules and adorns everything I own.
  2. I collect Starbucks cups, so I have one to match whatever outfit I am wearing that day
  3. If I have to decide on something, expect long delays as I analyze every single possible pro and con.
  4. I was never a girly girl growing up, however, I am getting there now =)
  5. I am an only child, my husband is an only child, and we have an only child.
  6. I still like writing things out by hand (you know, on paper with a pen… and in cursive). =)
  7. I am so much more a night person than a morning person.
  8. I’m very much a city girl.  I love all of the lights, color, electric energy, and excitement. However, I grew up and currently live away from the city.
  9. I own more Legos than my son.  In fact, I created an entire Lego wedding for two minifigures.  Check it out.
  10. My last name was NOT made up, I just lucked out and married an Irishman. =)

Why do I shoot Weddings?

My desire is to capture the emotion of the day, all of those little moments, real moments, that you will want to remember for the rest of your lives together.  I love using a very candid, photojournalistic approach with minimal ‘posing’ so your images can focus more on the real you.

My favorite part of capturing weddings isn’t necessarily that gleam in his eye when he sees his beautiful bride for the first time, the first kiss they share as husband and wife, or the way he holds her close in his arms during the first dance.  I love all those things, but what I love the most are the in-between moments.  When the bride’s father has to stop outside the door and compose himself before seeing his little girl as a beautiful woman for the first time and having to give her away.  When she bites her lip to hold back tears (but they come anyway) while her groom is saying his vows to her.  When her new husband holds onto her after the song has ended just because he doesn’t want to let her go.  These are the moments that are most important.  These moments show the love you share with each other.  And these moments are the ones you will want to cherish for the rest of your lives together.  And I get to be a part of all of that, which makes me eternally grateful.

Want to see what a session with me is like?

My amazing husband, owner of Aurora Films, created this video for me of the engagement session for Taylor and Johnathon.  It was this video that inspired him to actually start his videography business.  I think he did a great job showing what an engagement session with me is like, and Taylor and Johnathon said some very nice things.  =)

She gets to know what makes you YOU

I met Christina through a bridal show in Dallas and the one thing that popped out at me that she wasn't just asking questions about the wedding, but instead inquired about my family and life. She gets to know what makes you YOU and whats important in your life and translates that to beautiful photographs. She upholds the highest standards of professionalism and will go above and beyond just to make your day extra special. I almost wish I could get married every year just so I can work with her more often.

There wasn’t a moment she missed

When I first saw Christina’s work I was set on having her capture my wedding, and then when we met it sealed the deal. To make a really long story short our engagement session, my bridals, and our wedding were absolutely breathtaking. There wasn't a moment at our wedding that they missed, from my brother-in-law dropping the ring, to the sweet kisses my son, my husband and I all shared. They truly know how to capture every moment that counts; I would go on and on if I could but I will leave it as short and sweet as possible. I always have and always will highly recommend Christina & Tim.
