With New Years Resolutions behind us, some of us (including me) have all but forgotten what promises we made ourselves a few months ago.  Weight loss is one that I am determined to beat, so I created an Eight Week Weight Loss Challenge.

We will begin our challenge on Monday, April 28, and anyone is welcome to join.  All you need to do is send me an email to christina@christinatruelove.com with your gmail email address, and I will add you to the Google Drive folder and Facebook group.  We will do weekly weigh-ins using the honor system.  No money will be involved, but I will provide a free portrait session to the winner with 15 digital files.

The reason I decided to start the Eight Week Weight Loss Challenge is because I am tired of being overweight, but it is so much more than that.

Four years ago, Tim and I had memberships to a gym and paid a lot of money for a personal trainer to help us lose weight and get into shape.  In the middle of our 12 week session, I got pregnant with our wonderful son, Cody.  I know that exercising is great for pregnancy, but I was really nervous about doing anything that would hurt our long-awaited baby.  So, I stopped doing anything.  ANYthing.

I, fortunately, only gained 35 pounds during my pregnancy.  Cody was born on August 16, 2011, one of the happiest days of my life.  =)  The weeks that followed were struggle and challenge after another.  Sleep was allusive with a newborn.  I tended to eat meals that I could make with only one hand while still half-asleep — for me, that was hot dogs.  Lots and lots of hot dogs.  The lack of nutrition and proper rest fueled PPD, which took my motivation for a healthy lifestyle and threw it out the window.

Two and a half years later, I am the same weight I was after my son was born, and I have very little energy.  My boy is getting more active and I want to be right there with him.  I want to keep up with him, and with my healthy husband.  I want to run outside with my boy that is always on the go.  I want to play sports with him.  Even more than that, I want him to see his parents as healthy people.  Children of overweight parents are much more likely to be overweight.  If our lifestyle has such a huge impact on him, I want it to be a good one.

So, here we are with the Eight Week Weight Loss Challenge.  Let’s see if we can’t do this together.  I am giving you fair warning, though, that I am going to need someone yelling at me and making me feel guilty if I don’t make any progress, and I will be happy to do that for any one of you.  I realize that our motivations may not be the same.  Some of you are wanting to fit into your wedding dress.  Some of you want to look hot for your spouse or significant other.  And others may be doing this purely for your own satisfaction.  Whatever your motivation, you need help to accomplish your goal, and that is what we are here for.

I will also post weekly articles about living a healthy lifestyle.  I am totally open to having guest-writers, too.  I know about this much —> <— about living and eating healthy, but I do want to learn.

Let’s do this.
